Alex Rodriguez shares emotional video of memories with Jennifer Lopez set to Coldplay’s Fix You

Alex Rodriguez was hinting that there was trouble for he and his now ex Jennifer Lopez in the hours before the pair announced their split.

Late on Wednesday night, the 45-year-old former MLB player shared an emotional video to his Instagram story showing photos and memories with Lopez over the years, set to Coldplay’s famous love ballad Fix You.

The following morning, Jennifer and Alex released a statement confirming the end of their two-year engagement and four-year relationship.

It seems like the writing was on the wall for the end of the pair’s romance based on Alex’s video which was set to a sappy song.

The camera panned around to several framed photos of Alex, Jennifer and their blended family – Rodriguez’s two girls, Natasha, 16, and Ella, 12, and Lopez’s twins Emme and Max, 13. 

One of the images – a photo of the words ‘Jennifer + Alex’ written in the sand with a heart around it – appeared to have been from the vacation when the couple first got engaged.

Ironically, Alex actually tagged @jlo in the video with a blue heart around her Instagram handle.

Just hours after the video was shared, the A-listers released a statement announcing the news that they’d broken up. The news comes weeks after sources revealed the couple was on the outs – rumors that Alex and Jennifer publicly denied.

They told Today Thursday morning: ‘We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects…

‘We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have is to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support’. 

Last month, insiders claimed the singer, 51, and the former Yankees player, 45, ended their two-year engagement after suffering issues for some time including being dogged by rumours of Alex’s ‘friendship’ with reality star Madison LeCroy, 30.

In a statement at the time, Jennifer and Alex said the split claims were ‘inaccurate’ and they are ‘working through some things’. 

The defiant couple subsequently packed on the PDA for cameras during a family trip when they were spotted kissing in the Dominican Republic.

The couple began dating in 2017 before announcing their engagement in March 2019. Their planned nuptials were delayed twice due to the pandemic. 

Jennifer and Alex were revered as one of the strongest and most influential couples in American showbiz, before the split rumors started circulating last month.

At the time, Page Six reported Rodriguez’s alleged ‘friendship’ with Southern Charm star Madison was a factor in the split while other sources close to the couple said the break-up was ‘a long time coming’. 

A source told the publication: ‘The Madison LeCroy scandal was the reason they finally broke up. There were already problems, but Jennifer was really embarrassed by it.’

The explosive allegations had originally occurred during a recent Southern Charm reunion, where Madison claimed she had been in contact with a married and ex-MLB player. The name had been bleeped out.

During the episode, Madison was also accused of sleeping with the unidentified sports star but she denied ever seeing the man in person, although she did admit to DM-ing him. 

Suspicions arose that the person could have been Alex, despite him not being married and only engaged at the time to Jennifer.

Later, Madison revealed in an interview with Page Six she had been in ‘innocent’ communication with Alex but that they had ‘never met up’ and only ‘spoken on the phone’.

Madison also insisted that Alex had ‘never physically cheated’ on Jennifer with her and that their phone calls had been ‘inconsistent’ and ‘random’. The reality star would not reveal what was discussed. 

However, a source with knowledge of the situation previously told DailyMail.com: ‘Alex has never met or spoken to Madison or anyone from the show.’  

This past Sunday, Jennifer sparked speculation about the state of her romance when she shared a selfie without her $1m engagement ring.
