Zooey Deschanel shows off baby bump as she films New Girl

Zooey Deschanel and her producer husband Jacob Pechenik have yet to officially confirm that they are expecting a second child despite a flurry of reports on Thursday.

But she didn’t try to disguise her growing baby bump when she was spotted filming her CW comedy New Girl in Los Angeles the same day.

However, don’t expect her character, Jess, to suddenly reveal that she’s expecting.

Two on set: On Thursday Zooey Deschanel confirmed the long rumoured news that she and her producer husband Jacob Pechenik are expecting a second child – then went straight to work

The show’s creators managed to conceal the 37-year-old’s burgeoning belly when she was carrying her daughter, Elsie Otter, in 2015.

‘It’s been pretty easy to hide in costumes so far,’ Zooey dished to Eonline at the time. ‘And we only have about four episodes left in the season, so we’re doing pretty well.’

This time there are only two episodes left before season six wraps so the star may get away with it again.

In contact: Zoe clasped her cell phone as she took a break during filming 

The two outfits Zooey wore on Thursday’s outdoor set certainly made little attempt to hide her happy condition.

In one scene, the beautiful brunette was dressed in a flowery, paisley-patterned frock with a dark red cardigan and black tights as she clasped her hands over her baby bump.

A side shot as she walked along revealed her bulging tummy in all its glory.

Talking it over: The celebrity, who has starred in the show as Jess since its debut in 2011, chatted to a member of the crew

Even bigger: Zooey didn’t do a better job of hiding her bump when she changed into a black jacket that she wore over a black mini-dress with a white and red pattern around the hem.

Meanwhile, she and Jacob tied the knot in a super-secret ceremony in Austin, Texas on June 21, 2015.

They welcomed daughter Elsie the following month.
