Big-screen Avengers Paul Rudd and Anthony Mackie help kick off the new Avengers Campus

Disney kicked off its brand new Avengers Campus at Disney’s California Adventure theme park in Anaheim, California, with the help of some big-screen heroes.

Paul Rudd, who plays Ant-Man, and Anthony Mackie, who plays The Falcon and the newly-minted Captain America, was part of the Wednesday night festivities.

They were joined by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Iron Man director Jon Favreau and Disney’s Bob Chapek for the opening ceremony.

Chapek revealed during his opening remarks that, ‘If you’ve ever wanted to be a superhero, and who among us hasn’t, this is the place for you,’ adding it was the first ‘Avengers-themed land anywhere in the world.’

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, clad in his traditional black baseball cap, grey suit coat, jeans and black Nike sneakers, also took to the stage, adding he could, ‘not be more excited’ to open the Avengers Campus.

Feige also pointed to the full-sized Quinjet, the custom jet that the Avengers used in the movies, adding Avengers Campus is the ‘only place in the world’ to see an actual Quinjet.

He added the Campus will ‘never be completed,’ adding it will continually evolve along with the movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Feige added that fans will also be able to enjoy shawarma for themselves with two carts where fans can enjoy the food, which all of the Avengers were seen eating in the now-iconic post-credit scene from 2012’s Marvel’s  The Avengers.

Feige then introduced Paul Rudd, who will start shooting Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantummania this summer, who took to the stage in a slick salmon suit.

Rudd began by stating how incredible it is to be there, ‘in person,’ joking that his favorite part of the campus is the Pym Test Kitchen.

He also introduced a video package featuring Marvel stars Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Paul Bettany (Vision) and Brie Larson (Captain Marvel).

Director Jon Favreau, whose 2008 film Iron Man kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe, also took part in the ceremony.

‘When we made the first Iron Man film back in 2008, we had no idea how it was going to be received by the fans. But Iron Man ignited the imagination of fans all over the world,’ Favreau said.

Feige then brought out all of the costumed cast members who will be playing all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes at the park, before Anthony Mackie arrived from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, who has become the new Captain America.

He came onto the stage carrying the same leather bag containing the Captain America shield that he was holding in the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

‘I’ve loved being part of these movies and, now, with Disney Plus, this series,’ Mackie began.

‘It was an emotional moment for me to be in these films, and when Sam Wilson finally became Captain America, it was a moment that’s all about the future,’ he added.

Mackie then introduced the cast member who is playing the new Captain America on Avengers Campus, handing him the iconic shield.

With all of the heroes in place, Avengers Campus was ‘activated’ with an explosive fireworks, set to the iconic Avengers theme, as the ceremony came to an end.

Avengers Campus opens to the public at Disney California Adventure on June 4.
