The Queen has reportedly offered an invite to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to join the Royal Family at the celebrations for the Queen’s 70th year on the throne next year.
The olive branch to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is an invitation to next summer’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Prince Harry and Meghan are rumoured to be attending the Trooping the Colour which will form part of the jubilee festivities next June. The event is known for the balcony moment but it is uncertain whether the couple would feature in the iconic scene next year.
Should the couple attend the event, it would be the first time both the Meghan and Prince Harry have met the Royal Family since the bombshell Oprah interview and Harry’s The Me You Can’t See series on Apple TV.
According to a source speaking to The Mail on Sunday, they said: ‘The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been invited and I’m sure the Queen is very much looking forward to seeing them there.
‘The balcony moment will be decided much nearer the time but there’s a limit to how many family members should be on it, and I would have thought that working Royals who contribute to the family would be higher on the list than the Sussexes.’
Celebrations to mark the Queen’s 70 years will last all next year but the main activities being held during a four-day period over the extended bank holiday weekend from Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5.
