England fans celebrate as Three Lions reach historic Euro 2020 final

England fans have gone wild after witnessing their team reach a historic first major tournament final in 55 years.

Three Lions captain Harry Kane put England into the Euro 2020 final after scoring the rebound after Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel saved his penalty to seal a 2-1 extra-time win.

A party atmosphere is under way in Trafalgar Square, with fans shirtless and throwing beers into the air.

Supporters have grouped together at the London landmark with chants of “Southgate you’re the one” and “Don’t take me home” ringing out.

Stewards can be seen trying to move the fans on, but they continue to sing loudly in the fan zone.

Police officers have formed a barrier at Leicester Square to stop any more people from getting in.

A large crowd has gathered and are singing and shouting after England’s close 2-1 win against Denmark.

At least 20 police are standing in a line and physically stopping any other fans from joining the crowd.

England fans young and old in Croydon celebrated together as Gareth Southgate’s men secured their historic win over Denmark.

Police charged into crowds at Leicester Square who climbed on top of a bus, totally at least 40 people with 20 on top.

Approximately 30 police moved in to break up the crowds and get the fans off the top of the bus.

Fans responded by booing and throwing beer cans at the police, and many ran away shouting “feds”.

John Engall, 65, from Bedington, who was 10 during the 1966 World Cup final, said he felt “absolutely fantastic”.

“I remember ‘66 but I’m much more ecstatic now than when I was 10,” he told the PA news agency.

“It was a brilliant game, it could have gone either way but well, it seems to have gone our way.”

20 year-old Nandeli Pelembe said: “I was very nervous in extra time, I thought it was going to go to penalties and I hate penalties.”

He added: “I’ve got work tomorrow, but I’m going to have a late one with the boys when we get back home, so that should be good.”

Jubilant England fans and downcast Denmark supporters have started pouring out of Wembley Stadium.

Fans released red-coloured smoke and chanted “it’s coming home” as they swarmed out of the venue following England’s 2-1 win in extra time.

Addi Hassan, 21, from north London, described the win as “absolutely incredible, absolutely world class”.

Police officers watched on as jubilant supporters poured out of the fan zone in Trafalgar Square following England’s victory.

Cars drove past beeping in support as fans walked in the roads, singing and embracing each other.

One fan Amy Reeves, 27, from Maidenhead, in Berkshire, said: “I’m not really a football fan but I can get behind this.

“People look happy and one thing this country needs is happiness.

“Everything that has happened over the past year has lead to this- it’s unbelievable!”

England fans Scarlet Devereux and Lucy Millard, both 18, were elated as they came out of Wembley Stadium.

Ms Devereux said: “It was a brilliant game, the atmosphere was absolutely amazing.

Ms Millard said: “It’s the first time in so many years we’ve been in the semi-finals so it’s absolutely amazing. It’s coming home.”

Addi Hassan, 21, from north London, described England’s 2-1 win over Denmark as “world class”.

He said: “It was absolutely incredible, absolutely world class, it’s coming home, it’s coming home, it’s coming home.”

When asked if he thought England could beat Italy in the final, he said: “100%, I’m confident, with the home advantage we’re bringing it home and Italy are going to lose.”

Celebrations are continuing into the night as fans sing and dance together.

As fans pour out of the pubs hundreds continue to gather and carry on partying throughout the night.

Motorists beep their horns and crowds roar with passion after seeing the England team triumph.

Boris Johnson, who was at Wembley with wife Carrie to watch the game, tweeted: “Tonight @England played their hearts out.

“What a fantastic performance from Gareth Southgate’s squad.

“Now to the final. Let’s bring it home”.

The Duke of Cambridge was, like Mr Johnson, present at Wembley to watch England’s historic victory.

A tweet from his official account with the Duchess of Cambridge read: “What a game, what a result! A huge team effort @England.

“The whole country will be behind you on Sunday #ItsComingHome”

London Mayor Sadiq Khan tweeted: “This is a moment London will never forget. I can’t remember the last time I saw our city so alive.

“An @England final in London’s @wembleystadium-does it get much better?”

Oliver Dowden, the Culture Secretary, tweeted: “Brilliant performance from England! Atmosphere at Wembley absolutely electric.

“What a night! One more game to go. Come on.”

Meanwhile, Sir Geoff Hurst, who scored a hat-trick for England in the 1966 World Cup final, tweeted: “Wow! We’re in the final.

“Brilliant game. Well done England. Fantastic.
