It is hard to think of anything more divisive than asking the nation if it prefers dogs or cats but the Daily Star is here to do just that.
Never mind whether you store your ketchup in the fridge or cupboard or if you put jam on top or beneath cream on a scone.
Surely the matter of Britain’s favourite pet is the ultimate debate and one we are determined to get to the bottom of – with your help of course.
Would you rather come home to a bouncing golden retriever or a purring tabby? A staffie or a Bengal?
Dare we ask a British bulldog or a British shorthair?
Whatever the breed, let’s settle this biggie once and for all. It’s time to show which side your claws are on and decide if you’re a dog person or a cat person by taking the survey below.

Now we admit that all of us here at TeamDogs might just be a little biased (ahem!) in favour of cats (only joking!!). Of course we’re TD all the way.
But in terms of what’s most popular in Britain, it’s dogs who take it by a whisker.
There are more dog owners than cat owners in the UK, according to PDSA stats from February 2020.
Whilst 51 per cent of the UK adult population owns a pet, 26 per cent own a dog and 24 per cent own a cat.
