Global ICT provider Huawei and Indonesia’s leading digital communications company Telkomsel have jointly launched a high-gainnarrow beam antenna solution. The solutionenables outdoor antennas to ensure network coverage in indoor areas. The innovation will significantly improve indoor network coverage and user experience at apartments, office buildings and other high-rises.
The solution resulted from ajoint innovation center involving Huawei and Telkomsel that has been established since the first quarterof 2020. After a series of thorough research and discussions, both companies managed to resolve the issue of weak coveragecaused bythe use of traditional distributed indoor systemsthat contributesto mounting challenges, such as difficult site acquisition, high rent costs and long time-to-market (TTM).
The adoption of new antenna will provide higher gains and flexible beam configuration to existing outdoor sites. Zhang Jianwei, Vice President of Antenna Business Unit of Huawei’s Wireless Network, said that Huawei is committed to exploring solutions to enhance indoor coverage.
“In addition to improved indoor coverage, the high-gain antenna will also provide our customers with lower CAPEX and OPEX to improve cost-effectiveness aside from other benefits, including fast deployment and short TTM,†Zhang said.
Zhang added that Huawei will continue to innovate in network solutions based on customers’ requirements to help them build efficient and high-performance networks that deliver premium user experience.
