The Honorary Board of Election Organizers (DKPP) sanctioned the dismissal of KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy’ari in an alleged immoral act. The sanction was read out by DKPP at a hearing held on Wednesday (03/07/2024).
Hasyim was previously reported by a woman with the initials CAT who is a member of the Foreign Election Committee (PPLN) Den Haag, Netherlands.
“Imposing a sanction of permanent dismissal to the complainant Hasyim Asy’ari as Chairman of the KPU for the 2022-2027 Period as of the date this decision is read,” said DKPP Chairman Heddy Lukito at the verdict pronouncement session at the DKPP Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (03/07/2024).
In the verdict read out by Heddy, Hasyim was proven to have violated the Code of Ethics and Guidelines for the Conduct of Election Organizers.
“Granting the complainant’s complaint in its entirety,” he said.
Previously reported, DKPP received a complaint from a woman with the initials CAT about the alleged immorality of Hasyim Asy’ari. CAT is a member of the Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) Den Haag, the Netherlands. The complaint was registered with number 90-PKE-DKPP/V/2024.
Hasyim was reported after he was accused of approaching the victim from August 2023 to March 2024. The complainant alleged that the approach was made using factors of power.
CAT then resigned as PPLN because of what Hasyim allegedly did. CAT then gave legal counsel to the Legal Aid Consultation Institute of the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (LKBH FHUI) and LBH Apik to file a complaint.
At the end of May, Hasyim, who was questioned, denied all points of complaint. Hasyim claimed that the entire content of the complaint did not match the existing facts.
