Italian TV host Paola Ferrari has insisted she was wearing underwear during Italy‘s Euro 2020 television coverage after footage appearing to show her accidentally flash viewers went viral.
The presenter denied going commando during the live football coverage after social media users thought otherwise after she uncrossed her legs.
Ferrari has since been compared to Sharon Stone in the 1991 film Basic Instinct, which includes a scene where the actress uncrosses her legs during an interrogation to reveal she is not wearing underwear.Â

Ferrari, who presents for Italian channel Rai, was wearing a long black dress with her legs crossed while on-air. At one stage, she swapped legs and some viewers claimed she was not wearing underwear.Â
But the 60-year-old has refuted the claims, saying that she prefers to ‘protect [her] health and hygiene’. Â
‘It has gone viral, they are using more VAR (for this) than on the field at the European Championships,’ said Ferrari of the social media users who have paused the video and replayed it.Â
‘It happened but it’s nothing serious.’
Some of the users claimed they saw a butterfly tattooed on an intimate area.
But Ferrari was again forced to deny the claims and joked: ‘I can assure you that I do not have a tattooed butterfly, I do not fly so high.’Â

Speaking about her being compared to Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct, Ferrari said: ‘It’s a bit of a stretch, as she is one of the sexiest women in the world.Â
‘In short, the viral video seems a bit exaggerated, I presented two evenings WITH pants. Sharon Stone was not wearing underwear in that scene. I, on the other hand, prefer to protect health and hygiene.’
In 2017, Spanish TV presenter was forced to counter claims she went commando during a New Year’s Eve show after a series of pictures of her went viral.Â
Eloisa Gonzalez had been counting down to January 1 on Canarian TV on the windy island of Gomera in a red dress with a high slit which gave the impression she wasn’t wearing underwear.Â
She said at the time:Â ‘I wasn’t aware of what had happened at the time and I didn’t even notice the cold.
‘I had underwear on as well as stockings.
‘I was constantly grabbing hold of the lower part of my dress because I didn’t trust its front split.
‘But there was a moment when I had to swivel round to speak with a companion and while I was turning round the wind whipped up and it was then that I was informed over my earpiece that they’d seen ‘something’.’Â Â Â Â
