Nicole Kidman wears a red wig as she portrays Lucille Ball on set of the biopic Being The Ricardos with costars Javier Bardem and Alia Shawkat

Nicole Kidman was seen in costume as comedienne and actress Lucille Ball in Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming biopic Being The Ricardos on Wednesday in Los Angeles.  

While on set, the Oscar-winning actress, 53, sported a shoulder-length ginger wig, cream blouse, a pastel blue vest and matching trousers. 

Meanwhile, her costar Javier Bardem, who portrays Ball’s husband Desi Arnaz, wore a tailored suit and his dark tresses slicked back in his character’s signature hairstyle.

Alia Shawkat, starring alongside the on-screen couple as I Love Lucy writer Madelyn Pugh, looked sharp in a long pencil skirt, heels and a pretty blouse.  

Between takes, she kept a clear face shield around her neck to stay safe amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

Shawkat is known for her acting career but also for befriending Brad Pitt after his split from Angelina Jolie. 

Meanwhile, both Kidman and Bardem kept their noses and mouths covered under face masks after getting in front of the camera.  

Aaron Sorkin is writing and directing Being The Ricardos for Amazon after his streaming success with The Trial Of The Chicago 7 for Netflix.

The film will showcase Desi and Ball’s tumultuous marriage.

She filed for divorce for the first time in 1944, reportedly over his philandering and drinking, but they got back together before splitting up permanently in 1960.

In the meantime they produced two children and the sitcom that etched them into TV legend, running from 1951 to 1957. 

They also starred in movies together throughout their marriage, including Forever, Darling and the Vincente Minnelli comedy The Long, Long Trailer.

Despite their divorce, in which she called their marriage ‘a nightmare,’ Lucy and Desi remained publicly amicable for the rest of his life.

Lucy married Borscht Belt comic Gary Morton in 1961 and stayed with him until her death in 1989, while Desi married one Edith Hirsch in 1963.

The new biopic is about a single week spent making an episode of I Love Lucy during which Lucy and Desi’s marriage is shaken.
