The blonde beauty was singled out for her performance as Hollywood Golden Age actress Marion Davies in the 2020 film Mank which also starred Gary Oldman and Lily Collins.

Amanda landed in the Best Actress in a Supporting Role category and will compete with Maria Bakalova for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Glenn Close for Hillbilly Elegy, Olivia Colman for The Father and Youn Yuh-jung for Minari.

In December she told USA Today that getting Oscar buzz was new for her.

‘I haven’t experienced this kind of discussion surrounding me and my performance ever. I’ve always skated through reviews. I’ve had luck with not getting anything totally horrible said about my performance, but it’s always just been “Amanda Seyfried, who plays this character” or, you know, “She was fine,”‘ said the star.

‘This is definitely out of the norm for me. I just want to keep working and I want people to respect me.’

And she added she loved the role of Marion and how she fell for Hearst.

‘The relationship that Marion had with Hearst was very real. She had a genuine love for him. It’s hard for anybody to believe that that could be true because she was much younger and she was his mistress for years and years,’ Seyfried said. ‘There was such a sweetness and such a good bond between them that never broke.’

Mank led the Oscar nominations with 10 nods.

The movie – which centers around Herman J. Mankiewicz and how he penned the screenplay for Citizen Kane – has received a huge 10 nominations ahead of the upcoming ceremony on April 26.

It includes coveted nods in the Best Picture category as well as Best Director for David Fincher, Best Actor for Gary Oldman and Best Supporting Actress for Seyfried.

The movie – which had a short cinema release before being made available on streaming service Netflix – also made a strong appearance in the design categories including Production Design, Makeup and Hairstylisting and Costume Design as well as technical categories such as Cinematography, Sound and Score.

The Academy Awards will take place on April 26 from different locations owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The actress is married to Thomas Sadoski. Seyfried and Sadoski, who exchanged vows in 2017, are parents to three-year-old daughter Nina and newborn son Thomas Jr.

The star shared in January while on The Kelly Clarkson show that she has not just dog Finn at home but several other animals.

Amanda has ducks, ponies, horses, donkeys, goats, chickens and a cat.

‘You just described them all like a family. You described them like the characters in a film,’ Clarkson exclaimed.

‘There should be a film made of them,’ Seyfried replied. ‘I should make that happen.’

This comes after Seyfried said in December that she can’t wait to watch Scoob with her daughter.

The actress thinks it will be a ‘memorable’ moment for Nina to realize her mom is in the animated film and believes the tot will really connect her character Daphne, so she is expecting their family screening to be ‘magical’.

She said: ‘She’s gonna love it. We’re going to really celebrate it with the whole family and it will be very memorable.

‘It’s fun watching her watch us on television because her father is also an actor.

‘I think she’s going to be able to embrace Daphne because it’s going to sound like Mom and act like Mom, but be doing really cool things with all these crazy characters and this talking dog. It’s going to be really magical – I can’t wait.

Amanda was a big fan of the Scooby-Doo cartoons when she was a child because they allowed her to explore her interests in spooky goings on, without being too scary.

She said: ‘I became really obsessed with ghost stories when I was young, so my first memory is how comfortable and safe I felt exploring those tales.

‘It was an opportunity to let my imagination go wild and the ‘Scooby-Doo’ group really made me feel like it was exciting and safe to do so along with them. I watched it all the time.’

Amanda was determined to choose projects that kept her career moving.

She recently explained: ‘I think you have to be really careful and really be deliberate about your choices when you want longevity. The priority for me was always that I just wanted to be working.’
