Swifties are bopping along to the latest Taylor Swift jam from her music vault.

The 31-year-old megastar dropped a surprise song on Wednesday, Mr. Perfectly Fine, ahead of the re-release of her 2008 hit album Fearless later this week.

Recently, Taylor has been re-recording her first six albums after Scooter Braun purchased her entire music catalog out from underneath of her and then sold it without her knowledge.

From the vault: Taylor Swift dropped a surprise song on Wednesday, Mr. Perfectly Fine, ahead of the re-release of her 2008 hit album Fearless later this week

The re-released albums will contain the original track lists, as well as songs she contemporaneously wrote or recorded but didn’t make the initial cut at the time – Mr. Perfectly Fine is one such pop tune.

Taylor took to social media to announce the new song from her vault with a cheeky meme: ‘Me in 2020: life is chill, writing songs based in fiction to avoid drama, feeling pretty grown up

‘My 2008 music from the vault, in a goblin voice: ‘REELEEEEEEASE MR PERFECTLY FIIIIIIINE’

The post-break up anthem has the same vibe as the rest of her Fearless tunes, with an upbeat pop melody along with the slight country undertones she was known for at the time.

It’s about a guy who broke Taylor’s heart and moved on without issue while she picked up the emotional pieces – very of-the-moment for 2008 Taylor who was still in her teens.

‘Hello, Mr. Perfectly fine / How’s your heart after breaking mine?/ Mr. always at the right place at the right time, baby / Hello, Mr. casually cruel / Mr. everything revolves around you / I’ve been Miss misery since your goodbye / And you’re Mr. perfectly fine,’ Taylor croons.

The song is her second ‘from the vault’ track released thus far. Earlier this week she dropped You All Over Me which featured country star Maren Morris, along with the full track list for Fearless (Taylor’s Version).

‘Here’s the full track list, my friends. I’m really honored that @keithurban is a part of this project, duetting on That’s When and singing harmonies on We Were Happy,’ she wrote on social media.

‘I was his opening act during the Fearless album era and his music has inspired me endlessly. I’m counting down the minutes til we can all jump into this brave world together, filled with equal parts nostalgia and brand newness,’ Taylor added.

Swift has been laser focused on work in the last 12 months, recording and releasing her two latest critically acclaimed and Grammy-winning albums during lockdown, Folklore A and Evermore.

She was also simultaneously re-recording her first six albums, as well as those additional vault tracks, for re-release.

‘I’ve been having a really great time re-recording my older music,’ Taylor told GMA back in November.

‘I think it’s been the most fun doing Love Story because because, the older music, my voice was so teenaged,’ she explained. ‘Sometimes when I hear my older music and my older, young teenage voice it makes me feel like I’m a different singer.

‘I like to go back and re-record ones that I feel like I could possibly improve upon the song,’ she added.

While Swift called re-doing all her hard work a ‘fun adventure’ during her interview, she’s made it perfectly clear there is bad blood between herself and Scooter Braun, who bought and sold her music without her say.

Braun, a 39-year-old music executive, unloaded the master rights to Taylor’s first six albums to private equity firm Shamrock Holdings in a deal believed to be well over $300 million in 2020.

Taylor called him out over the sale in a social media post and claimed that he intentionally kept her in the dark while he turned a hefty profit on her hard work.

Prior to the that, in 2019 Braun had purchased Nashville-based independent record label Big Machine, first taking the rights to Taylor’s body of work and at the time, she voiced public outrage at being cut out of the deal.

Swift said the news made her ‘sad and grossed out’ because, in part, she claims Braun perpetuated ‘incessant, manipulative bullying’ against her for years.
