New 5G Nokia X20 smartphone aims to dazzle owners while also saving the planet

Nokia is powering back into the mobile phone market with another cracking new 5G handset in the X20.

It crams in a ton of top tech for a wallet-friendly £320 and bosses at the firm give you a lengthy three-year guarantee on Android software upgrades.

They’re hoping people will hold onto the phone for at least that long, rather than the usual two-year upgrade, to help reduce global carbon emissions.

According to the European Environmental Bureau, if everyone in Europe used their smartphones for just one year longer, by 2030, we could save as much carbon as taking two million cars off the road.

All X20 owners can also use their device’s unique IMEI code to plant 20 trees in their name.

And there’s no charging plug in the box, with the makers opting to give owners a compostable protective case instead to help save the planet.

The phone has a 64mp quad camera on the back with Zeiss optics, a 6.67inch 1080×2400 screen, with a punchy Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G processor and 128GB internal storage.

It comes after the firm saw a big return to the phone market last year with the 8.3 model, a similar-priced 5G phone that is being used in the upcoming 25th James Bond film, No Time To Die.

We’ve given the X20 a good run for it’s money and found the device to be exceptionally speedy switching between apps and web pages.

It’s design is pleasant on the eye and fits in the hand better than the 8.3 model thanks to a slightly smaller size.
