It’s not everyday Macca’s launches a new menu item – especially not one that is a collaboration with the world’s biggest boy band.

Aussie fans of K-pop group BTS were among the first to try the new McDonald’s offering, with one woman claiming she got the “first BTS meal” in Australia.

“It was supposed to start at 10am but I got it at 0am (midnight). It think it’s because I looked desperate and they gave it to me,” @stephaniechnn said in a TikTok video that’s been viewed a whopping 876,000 times.

Sydney foodie @adrianwidjy was also among the first to try it, going to Macca’s this morning to pick up the meal.

The BTS Macca’s meal consists of 10 chicken nuggets – BTS’ favourite – shaker fries and a soft drink all in special packaging paying tribute to the boy band.

But the real star of the meal is the two limited edition new sauces that come with it: sweet chilli and cajun.

“I loved their sweet chilli sauce, it reminded me of the Korean fried chicken,” Adrian said in the clip, which has racked up more than 43,000 views.

While BTS fans were excited about the special packaging, others were unimpressed with the meal which doesn’t come with special souvenirs like it does in other countries.

“There’s no actual merch?” one commenter asked.

“It’s just chicken nuggets,” one person commented.

“Wait I thought they were making something new, so it’s just nuggets,” another said.

“What is the point when it’s only different packaging and you don’t get anything special with it?” another person wrote.

But others said they were still keen to try the meal themselves.

“Me watching this after just starting a diet and now wanting to get Macca’s,” one person said.

“The box looks so cute,” another commented.

One person who already tried the meal gave the sauce a tick of approval.

“The sweet chilli sauce is soooo good. I’m not lying when I say I’m buying more of them just for that sauce,” one person wrote.

The BTS McDonald’s collaboration is part of the fast food chain’s Famous Order promotion which sees the company highlight celebrity Macca’s orders.

BTS is the first Famous Orders promotion that will be available in more than more country, with plans to release it in more than 50 different markets.

“We know our customers and crew have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of our first celebrity signature order in Australia, and we’re thrilled that the collaboration is finally here,” Liz Whitbread, McDonald’s senior brand manager, said.

“We couldn’t be more excited to start seeing our guests enjoying the BTS Meal and sporting their favourite pieces from the exclusive merch line.”
