Krispy Kreme gives away 100,000 doughnuts

In honour of the day, Krispy Kreme will be giving away 100,000 free original glazed doughnuts.

If you’re expecting a catch, there isn’t one. All you need to do is take yourself to your nearest Krispy Kreme store to claim your freebie.

“National Doughnut Day is our absolute favourite day of the year – we love sharing the joy of our famous Original Glazed doughnuts and relish the chance to put a smile on our customers’ faces,” Nicola Steele, retail director at Krispy Kreme Australia said.

In preparation for the big day, the US doughnut chain will be glazing 2000 of its popular, Original Glazed doughnuts per hour on its production line – that’s 33 doughnuts a minute.

The offer is only available while stocks last in NSW, Queensland and Western Australia.

Given the current lockdown restrictions in Melbourne, there will be a delay in celebrating National Doughnut Day in Victoria.

“This to ensure Krispy Kreme is adhering to local government advice,” a Krispy Kreme spokesperson said.

“Krispy Kreme can’t wait to celebrate with Victorians but for now, is monitoring the situation closely and seeking to keep staff and customers as safe as possible until the authorities advise a change in restrictions.”

The spokesperson also emphasised social distancing will apply in-store as per state government regulations and store drive-throughs will be open for a contactless experience.
