Gabi Grecko responds after Edelsten’s death

Gabi Grecko, who was 46 years his junior when she married the multi-millionaire in 2015, posted an image of the pair on Instagram in the early hours of Saturday without any caption.

Sharing her grief on social media this morning, she again posted a series of photos of the two together.

“How I feel today,” she captioned one image of herself grimacing while walking with Edelsten.

“Tired,” she wrote in another caption, along with a series of photos of the duo in their trademark colourful outfits.

She also posted another image of a black background with the text “not ready to comment”, accompanied by the so-called “Relieved Face Emoji”, before deleting the post.

Grecko, an American model and artist, was the controversial health entrepreneur and one-time Sydney Swans owner’s third wife.

They married on June 11, 2015, after he famously proposed to her during the Melbourne Cup at Flemington Racecourse.

Grecko posed for engagement photos in an elaborate bustier and winged headdress, towering over Edelsten beside her who was dressed in bright yellow.

The union got off to a shaky start after one of them promptly dropped the ring and Edelsten had to search for it under a couch in the Birdcage at Flemington.

The couple split later that year but reunited in 2018. The pair were rumoured to have split again in 2019.

He died on their wedding anniversary.

Grecko’s cryptic posts come as new details about Edelsten’s sad final days were revealed.

Long known for his extravagant lifestyle, he reportedly spent the final months of his life as a recluse visited only by close family and carers, friends told the Herald Sun.

Edelsten is believed to have died at Balencea Apartments on St Kilda Road in the Melbourne CBD on Friday afternoon, and was reportedly found by his cleaner.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

One neighbour told the newspaper he had lived in the apartment for two or three years and had been in declining health for 12 months.

“He was very pleasant, ­extremely well-mannered,” the neighbour said.

“He was an old-school gentleman and very respectful. He was extremely private. He never really spoke to others in the building. The only people who would come to visit him this last year were his brother, his close family and his carers.”

The former GP and founder of Allied Medical Group made headlines over the years for his love of beautiful, much younger women, lavishing them with expensive gifts.

His first wife, model Leanne Nesbitt, was 20 years younger than him when they married in 1984.

But he was best known for his 2009 wedding with Brynne Gordon – 40 years his junior – an American fitness instructor who was 25 when she met Edelsten on a blind date in Las Vegas.

Their lavish wedding on November 29, 2009 would be spoken about for years to come.

The pair, who had a 41-year age gap, raised eyebrows with their jaw-droppingly lavish nuptials which cost a staggering $3.3 million at Melbourne’s Crown Casino.

Their wedding included a helicopter arrival and circus performers for 500 guests including Margot Robbie, Kerri-Anne Kennerley and American actress Fran Drescher.

Bizarrely, Seinfeld actor Jason Alexander gave an address at the wedding, and narrated a DVD invitation shot by Pretty Woman director Garry Marshall.

The pair divorced in 2014.

“On behalf of Ms Brynne Edelsten, we send our deepest and sincerest condolences.

“Brynne and Geoffrey enjoyed some truly beautiful moments, including their wedding which saw Brynne call Australia home since their wedding back in 2009.

“While their marriage ended after 5 years together, Brynne remains grateful for the good times the couple had shared together and is deeply saddened and shocked to hear the news of his passing.”
