A new Coles store in Sydney’s inner west has left shoppers marvelling over its array of “amazing” features.

The supermarket giant opened doors in Marrickville Metro on Thursday as part of a $142 million expansion to the 40-year-old shopping centre.

Alongside staple groceries, shoppers have access to a range of new Coles features, including a squeeze-your-own orange juice station, a pet food Scoop & Weigh bar, complete with doggie ice cream, and a self-service coffee station.

There’s also a mochi, mini gelato and macaron bar as well as a fresh sushi bar that serves hand rolls and sashimi.

“We’re always looking to innovate and introduce brand new concepts into our supermarkets,” a spokesperson told news.com.au.

“We’ve rolled out mini macaron bars and dog Scoop & Weigh stations into dozens of our stores nationally and the feedback from customers has been very positive.”

A video shared by news.com.au’s lifestyle editor (and very excited local) on TikTok shows huge aisles with lots of space that Coles has described as a “store of the future” format – and people are frothing over it.

“Oh so big, wow,” one surprised viewer commented.

“This is aesthetically pleasing,” another said.

While one person said: “WTF ahahah, my dream Coles.”

Another claimed the “fancy” new supermarket was a “Coles for rich people”.

Others stated they “can’t wait to go”, tagging friends to suggest they check out the mochi bar.

The store has partnered with local producers and champions its sustainability commitment with doors on fridges and soft plastic recycling options.
