Being rejected by someone always hurts, no matter how much you like or love the person.
And while breakups come in many forms, this approach by one man has left people very confused.
A screengrab of the lengthy text message first appeared on TikTok, but reportedly did the rounds on Twitter because of its brutal nature, The Sun reports.
The message starts with the man declaring that he “fell in love,†insisting the woman is an “amazing person with a great personalityâ€.

So far so good, one would think, as we all love hearing how amazing someone thinks we are.
And as you continue, you’d think it was more a declaration of love and admiration … until you reach the end, that is.
It continued: “I just love your laugh. It’s so adorable and cute. I love your brown eyes. In the sun the [sic] get a little lighter and sparkle a little bit. You smell like pound cake all the time and I love it. Your smile makes me feel like I’m floating.
“You have the cutest nose. And my most favourite thing about you is your personality. I memorised your Starbucks order and your chipotle order. You hate the emoji [pleading face emoji] even tho u use that emoji sometimes u only use it when you’re horny.â€
If you’re on the receiving end of this message then you’d no doubt be trying to contain the butterflies in your tummy (that is, as long as you’re cool with being told you smell like pound cake) – and we seriously feel for the woman knowing what comes next.

The text concludes: “You’re 5’7¼. You say pickle juice when you’re thinking about your bestfriend [sic] *****. And u love to annoy me but I secretly love it.â€
Then comes the killer blow: “But I can’t date you because you’re not my type.â€
OUCH! We feel the pain – and so did the rest of the internet.
Responding to the post on Twitter, one user said: “I would simply never catch feelings for anyone ever again.â€
Agreeing it was pretty rough, another said: “Yea … this would definitely be my villain origin story bc WTF was ALL of that for? Like I’m sick for her.â€
One quipped: “This was the longest journey to disappointment I’ve taken in a while.â€
While another woman admitted the exact same thing happened to her – and she’d been dating the guy for four years.
“[He] ended his sentence with, ‘I love you, but you’re really not my type,’ and so I left,†she said.
