Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns has experienced a lot of pain this past year, both emotionally and physically.
He has dealt with the deaths of his mother and six other family members because of COVID-19. Towns announced two weeks ago that he also tested positive for the coronavirus. And Towns revealed in a Thursday night Instagram story that he had been struck by a drunk driver in Los Angeles before the 2020-21 season started.
TMZ showed a screenshot of Towns’s Q&A session on his Instagram story that detailed how he has overcome adversities in the last year. Towns credited his faith, refusal to dwell on the past as well as family, friends and his girlfriend. Towns specifically credited his girlfriend, Jordyn Woods, for helping him after he was struck by a drunk driver that included staying with him in the hospital and helping him with his subsequent rehab.
“My woman has held me down more than the world knows,” Towns wrote on his Instagram story. He added, “my love for her knows no bounds and I would be remiss if I don’t acknowledge the power a good woman can have.”
Towns has missed the past six games amid his positive COVID-19 test and missed seven other games related to a left wrist injury. Towns has averaged 22.0 points and 12.5 rebounds on 46% shooting in four games this season.Â
