Amazon creating thousands of jobs and investing in skills training in UK

Amazon is creating thousands of jobs and investing in skills training in the UK. 

The online retail giant will create more than 10,000 jobs and launch a £10m programme to help employees gain new skills. 

The move will take its total UK workforce to more than 55,000 by the end of year.

A fulfilment centre will open in Hinckley, East Midlands, this summer, creating 700 permanent jobs, and the company will also open a parcel centre in Doncaster and fulfilment centres in Dartford, Gateshead and Swindon that will each create more than 1,300 permanent jobs later this year. 

Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng said it was ‘a huge vote of confidence in the British economy’.
