What is… more guest hosts?
On Tuesday, “Jeopardy!” announced a new lineup of television personalities who will lead the syndicated game show in the absence of longtime host Alex Trebek, who died in November at age 80.Â
The newest guest hosts include NBC “Today” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, “The Doctor Oz Show†host Dr. Mehmet Oz, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper and Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN’s Chief Medical Correspondent.
Although the length of their stints isn’t clear, “Jeopardy!” said the game show will make a financial contribution to the designated charity of each host’s choosing.
“The amount donated will equal the cumulative winnings of the contestants that compete during the weeks they serve as guest host,” reads a “Jeopardy!” announcement.Â
Executive Producer Mike Richards added, “We look forward to each guest host bringing their unique abilities to the show and to our contestants winning a lot of money that we can match for charity.”
‘Jeopardy!’:Â Mayim Bialik, Katie Couric, Bill Whitaker will also guest-host quiz show
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, actress Mayim Bialik, journalist Katie Couric and “60 Minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker also have been tapped, the quiz show announced last month.Â
Couric, whose role was first reported by the Los Angeles Times, will be the first female to host the series.Â
Ken Jennings, who clenched the title of “Jeopardy!” GOAT last January, is currently serving the first, six-week role as guest host after taping 30 episodes.Â
Trebek’s final episode aired in January, but was taped on Oct. 29, just 10 days before his death Nov. 8 at 80, of pancreatic cancer.
