Samsung may have just given you a massive reason to avoid splashing out on an expensive flagship phone.
The South Korean tech firm has announced the launch of two new mid-range monsters, called the A52 5G and A72, which come packed with features at a ludicrously low price. In fact, you can pop the new A52 5G in your pocket for under £400, which is around half the cost of the premium Galaxy S21 – and if that’s got you excited then wait until you hear what’s packed inside. Both the A52 5G and A72 arrive with an edge-to-edge Super AMOLED screen that even includes a super-fast refresh rate to give you silky smooth scrolling and stutter-free gameplay.
Spin the phones around and there’s a quad-rear camera that can shoot video in glorious 4K and the A72 even has an impressive zoom. Another bonus is that it features a full Night Mode, which should boost the quality even when taking images in very low light and auto scene selection will make sure every image looks like it’s been shot by a pro.
Head under the hood and you’ll find a two-day battery life that is helped by Adaptive Power Saving – when things do run low, fast charging boosts things back to full in under an hour. The new A-Series feature 128 or 256GB of storage, which is fully upgradable via an SD card.
And there’s also a fast Octa-Core processor, which should cope with most of your daily digital tasks. As the name suggests, the A52 5G also gets full access to the latest network speeds, which allow you to download files at more than 300Mbps.

Starting from £629 the new OnePlus 9 is clearly not a budget smartphone. However, considering its superior spec this is definitely a bit of a bargain. The Chinese firm announced the release of this device earlier this week, with it featuring a rear snapper created by Hasselblad. This pro camera company is one of the best in the business and is bringing its know-how to a phone for the first time.
Along with its photography prowess, you’ll find the premium Snapdragon 888 processor tucked inside and the OnePlus 9 arrives with a 6.55in 120 Hz Fluid Display.

OPPO FIND X3 LITE 5G • £359

You might not have heard of Oppo but this Chinese company is now one of the biggest smartphone firms on the planet. Three new devices were recently added to its growing list of call makers and the cheapest of the bunch is the Find X3 Lite 5G. Now, at £359 it is more expensive than some budget phones but, as the name reveals,
this device does come with connectivity to the latest network technology which means you can access speedy downloads on the move. Other treats include a quad-rear camera, fast-charging battery, 6.4-inch OLED screen and fast Qualcomm processor
The Find X3 Lite 5G will be available in the UK on April 14 in Astral Blue, Starry Black and Galactic Silver.
