Bunnings has released a festive collection of Christmas lights to brighten the mood amid COVID-19.
The range – exclusively available in select stores – includes pink reindeer, fibre optic trees and giant Nutcracker soldiers that stand over a metre high.
An employee from the Craigieburn outlet, 25 kilometres from Melbourne CBD, announced the launch with a Facebook photo that’s gone viral since it was posted on Tuesday night.
‘After the year we’ve had, bushfires and a pandemic (and our metro Melbourne folk still getting through), looking forward to seeing lots of seasonal lighting,’ she wrote in the caption.

Christmas come early:Â Bunnings has launched a collection of Christmas decorations, exclusively available in select stores, to brighten the mood amid COVID-19
It’s not clear which other stores are stocking the festive collection, which does not appear on the brand’s website because they are promotional items.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Bunnings for clarification.
While hundreds of Victorians replied to the post saying she had ‘made their day’, others living under Melbourne’s strict stage four lockdown bemoaned that they’d be waiting at least another few weeks to get their hands on the decorations.
Bunnings outlets inside the metropolitan Melbourne area have been closed to everyone but tradespeople since midnight on August 7 under orders from the Victorian government.
But customers can still order online and pick up at the store – provided it falls within a five kilometre radius of your house, in accordance with lockdown restrictions.
From suburban Victorians, the excitement was evident.Â
‘Eekkk! That makes me happy! Especially as we are hosting family Christmas this year and I wanted to get a head start!! Thank you!’ one person said.
Another added: ‘We need something cheerful, that’s for sure! I think I need to get into the festive spirit this year.’
But some felt the launch was premature, even against the backdrop of the pandemic.
‘Gosh Christmas stuff already, it’s not even September yet,’ one woman said.
A second said: ‘Christmas decs (sic) already.. Oh my god, yes I love Christmas but why can’t they wait until October at least?’
A third was more outspoken in her criticism.
‘No!!! Halloween needs to come first. Hate b****y Christmas. Worst time of year,’ she said.
‘People turn into monsters and become so greedy – completely missing the whole point. Anyway, that’s my whinge.’

Solar party lights (left and right) are the only festive decorations currently available on Bunnings website, as the Christmas collection is a promotional offer
Others felt Christmas during coronavirus would be a dreary celebration for those separated from loved ones by the Australian border closure.
‘I don’t even want to think about Christmas with all these border closures, so many families wondering if they will get to see each other,’ one woman said.
Bunnings National Buyer Rebecca Hevey told Daily Mail Australia the 2020 festive range will feature over 200 items which will be available in store and online from early September.
‘Bunnings is the destination for all your festive lighting needs, from Halloween to Diwali, Christmas and New Years,’ Ms Hevey said.
‘We have something for everyone, including stunning festoon style lights, new inflatables such as a dancing Santa and Santa on a shark, plus fun silhouettes and statues.’
