Parents of young kids will be relieved to know they can still send their children to daycare following NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian decision to lockdown Sydney.
The new restrictions came after infections increased to 82 cases on Saturday.
The shutdown period will run from 6pm on Saturday June 26 — meaning people living in Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, the Central Coast and Wollongong can’t leave their homes until midnight, Friday July 9.

While there is no curfew, residents will only be able to leave to home for four reasons.
These include — work or education which must be done outside the home, if you need to seek medical attention, outdoor exercise and care or compassionate grounds.

However, parents have been advised they can still send their children to daycare, with child care centres deemed an essential service.
“Most people with little kids would know that that is essential,†NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard said during a press conference on Saturday.
“What about for parents who are essential workers who can’t be home over the school holiday break and perhaps have organised school?†a reporter asked.
“The answer that she just gave is yes,†Mr Hazzard responded, on behalf of NSW chief health officer Kerry Chant.
Numbers released today reported 29 locally acquired cases in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. This included 12 new cases, while 17 of those were announced yesterday.
