Disneyland is set to sell a $100 ‘quantum-sized’ Ant-Man-themed sandwich

Disneyland California is set to sell a $100 sandwich when it opens its new Avengers Campus next week — which costs about the same as a ticket to get into the theme park in the first place.

The Family-Sized Pym-ini Sandwich is made with salami, rosemary ham, provolone cheese, and sun-dried tomato spread on toasted focaccia, and comes with marinara dipping sauce and arugula salad.

But in keeping with the Avengers theme, the Ant-Man-inspired panini is ‘quantum-sized’ and much, much larger than a typical sandwich — hence the very hefty pricetag.

The sandwich will be available at the Pym Test Kitchen when the Avengers Campus opens at Disney California Adventure Park on June 4.

Marvel fans will know that the Pym Test Kitchen gets its name from Pym Particles, fictional subatomic particles invented by Hank Pym in the Ant-Man universe.

And because Ant-Man’s power is to shrink down to the size of an ant — or go to much larger than his normal human size — several of the foods on the menu play with that theme.

‘Refuel with Ant-Man and The Wasp’s size-defying fare at this epic eatery at Avengers Campus,’ reads the description on the Disney website.

But the most jaw-dropping item on the menu is certainly the supersized panini, which comes with a supersized $99.99 bill.

Fun! Also on the menu are a giant chicken sandwich — with a regular-sized bun, the $7.99 Celestial-sized Candy Bar, and an extra-large soda can

The sandwich costs about as much as a one-day Tier 1, one-park adult Disneyland ticket ($104) or a child ticket costs ($98).

However, the park notes, the sandwich is suggested to serve six to eight people.

That would make each individual serving about $12 to $17. 

There is also a single-serving Pym-ini Sandwich for $14.49 for diners who don’t wish to share — or came in a party smaller than six to eight.

The menu includes several other big dishes: There’s a $12.99 Quantum Pretzel that weighs over a pound, a $12.49 Caesar Salad with a ‘Colossal Crouton,’ and the $7.99 Celestial-sized Candy Bar.

The eatery even has a $22.99 enlarged soda can. 

But the Pym-ini Sandwich is certainly earning the most attention on social media.

‘So…Can Someone Explain Disney’s New $100 Sandwich?!’ demanded one Twitter user. 

‘Disney always being extra,’ tweeted another.

‘Disney theme park is introducing a $100 sandwich. At minimum wage after taxes you only have to work 20 hours to afford it,’ wrote a third.

‘With park passes as expensive as they are now think I’ll pass on a $100 sandwich, Disney,’ yet another chimed in.

‘100 bucks!!! That must be one hell of a sandwich. Maybe I’ll try next month for my Disney and golf outing. Loser pays lol,’ quipped one more.
