Bars and pubs in Dubai will close for the month of February after a coronavirus spike.
The shutdown comes after the United Arab Emirates – which attracted many Brit influencers and social media stars – was added to the UK’s travel ban list.
A spokesman for the Dubai Media Office blamed “a marked increase in the number of violations of precautionary measures” for the shutdown, the Sun reports.
The spokesman said: “The measures seek to further enhance efforts to combat Covid-19, and protect the health and safety of all citizens, residents and visitors.”
British influencers have joked that it’s “a shame” they’re stuck in sunny Dubai.

Strict new rules mean all flights from the United Arab Emirates to the UK have been suspended in an attempt to get on top of Covid cases.
Those choosing to fly home on indirect flights will have to isolate for 10 days on returning home.
And while many reality stars and influencers made it back, others opted to stick it out in the sunshine.

Absolutely Ascot star Henry Simmons shared the view from his balcony, writing: “Oh what a shame.”
OnlyFans model Honey Evans echoed the joke.
She wrote: “Flights from Dubai to the UK are banned. Guess i have no choice but to stay out here. Shame.”
Towie’s Yazmin Oukhellou said: “I know a lot of people are getting a lot of stick for travelling out here at the moment, but we have come out here to work.”
Some Brits raced home on Friday to avoid being stranded in Dubai as the UAE travel ban came into force.

The new rules will also include a flight ban on direct passenger flights from the United Arab Emirates – meaning that any Brits in Dubai will be affected.
The government has advised: “British nationals currently in the UAE should make use of the commercial options available if they wish to return to the UK.
“Indirect commercial routes that will enable British and Irish nationals and residents to return to the UK continue to operate.”
