Boris Johnson revealed a four-step road map to gradually ease restrictions and unlock the UK economy. If all goes well, schools will reopen on March 8 and social restrictions will be lifted by June 21.

Insisting that “the end really is in sight”, Johnson resisted calls from some Tory MP’s to open the economy more quickly but said that he hoped it would be a “one-way road to freedom”. He said he wants to ensure “cautious but irreversible” progress in tackling the virus, which has caused about 120,000 deaths in the UK.
