Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) feels compatible with President-elect Prabowo Subianto because they can trust and respect each other despite occasional differences of opinion.
“On several occasions Mr. Prabowo has said that he feels very compatible, feels very affectionate with me. Yes, that’s what I feel too,” Jokowi said in his remarks when attending the cadre rally and closing of the Gerindra Party’s National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) at the Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Jakarta, Saturday (31/08/2024) evening.
Jokowi said that the compatibility between them grew because of mutual trust, respect and understanding.
“That is what I feel very clearly,” he said.
It is this sense of trust that convinces Jokowi that Prabowo will become President of the Republic of Indonesia who is able to continue the continuation of development in order to realize the Golden Indonesia 2045.
“Including my belief that in the future with the leadership of Mr. Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia with its sustainability will be able to achieve the ideals of Advanced Indonesia, Golden Indonesia in 2045. I strongly believe that, Insha Allah, everything will be as we aspire, namely the Golden Indonesia in 2045,” he said.
While attending the event, Jokowi was seen smiling and laughing out loud, especially when Gerindra Secretary General Ahmad Muzani and Gerindra Chairman Prabowo Subianto delivered speeches.
Jokowi also seemed to be in harmony with Prabowo. Both threw compliments at each other.
Prabowo in his speech recognized Jokowi as a great political teacher from Solo.
Jokowi emphasized that the sustainability of populist programs, be it the sustainability of infrastructure development or human resources (HR), is very important.
“Be it the sustainability of downstream industry, IKN, or the green economy,” he added.
With sustainability, said Jokowi, energy and time will not run out because the current government has many populist programs in supporting welfare.
“That way this nation does not run out of time, does not run out of resources, does not run out of energy just to change direction, just to change programs every leadership,” he said.
