A Kmart shopper who spotted a typo in one of its product manuals has gone viral after taking the instructions literally.

TikTok user Chris Dahmen shared a video detailing the “special instructions” on an oil heater he recently purchased from the discount superstore.

When he was flicking through the Kmart user manual, Chris spotted it had misspelled insulated in one of the notes, sharing his find on social media.

It read: “The room must be insulted for best heating results.”

Naturally, the Sydney man wanted his $55 heater to perform at its best with winter approaching, so he did precisely that – recording his efforts for his TikTok account.

“I bought this oil heater from Kmart guys and reading the instructions it says here the room must be insulted,” he says in the video, shared on April 27.

Chris then puts the instruction manual down, walks through to the room he wants to heat up and says: “You suck.”

“We’re good to go guys,” he finishes, showing himself plugging the appliance in and saying “perfect”.

The tongue-in-cheek video has garnered a lot of laughs, with the comments section lighting up with cheeky responses.

“That’s not an insult. You should have called it fat and unlovable,” one joked.

“You could have done better than that, for the sake of the instructions,” another teased.

“Kmart knows when you don’t insult your room,” one bloke wrote.

While one woman said: “Oh, so that’s why they work so well in the break room.”

Others expressed their joy at Chris’ discovery, declaring: “What a typo,” someone else said.

“Good on you for following the instructions, you’re setting a real example for the rest of us,” someone else added.

Since the clip was shared, it has been viewed more than 60,000 and has earned over 6000 likes.
