A mum has divided foodies after sharing a ‘lazy’ recipe for a Doritos casserole – complete with beef mince, creamy chicken soup and corn chips.
The woman created the comfort dish using beef mince, ground turkey, two cans of cheddar cheese soup, two tins of creamy chicken soup, two cans of evaporated milk, minced green chilis, shredded cheese and a family sized bag of Doritos.Â
‘Made this tonight. By far the most requested dish in my house…Â My version of a Doritos casserole,’ she said in the Cheap Meal Ideas Facebook group.
The mum said the recipe was great for using ingredients she already had in her pantry so her dish changes every time she cooks it for her family.

‘I used what I had in pantry. You can dress it up by adding onions and jalapenos as you’re cooking the meat,’ she explained.
Over a medium heat, she cooked the mince in a frying pan until browned.
Next, she added all of the canned ingredients – and allowed the mixture to simmer for five minutes.
To assemble the nachos-inspired meal, she placed a layer of corn chips in a casserole dish, followed by the meat sauce and cheese. Repeat the step until you’ve used up all the chips and meat sauce.Â
Finishing with a layer of meat sauce before topping it with cheese.
The mum baked the dish in the oven at 175 degrees Celsius until the cheese top top has melted. She served the meal with a dollop of soup cream and salsa.

Her recipe has since been shared more than 73,000 times, with many saying it ‘looks awful and disgusting’ and ‘amazing all at once’.
‘It literally looks disgustingly yummy,’ one wrote, while another added: ‘So basically it’s nachos but made sloppier.’
Many pointed out the chips would go soggy after baking – and suggested serving them separately when plating up the meat sauce. Â
‘I honestly just wanna know, it looks really good but I hate soggy chips,’ one wrote, while another added: ‘Ew please don’t make it this way your chips will be mushy.’Â Â
‘Don’t do it. Just cook everything together but add the chips as you plate everything or it’ll be soggy and doesn’t taste right,’ one said.
Others said they weren’t entirely enthused over tinned cream chicken soup, canned cheddar cheese soup and evaporated milk.
However, those who have created a similar version of the dish said ‘don’t knock it till you try it’ because it tastes surprisingly better than it looks.
