Pentagon launches investigation into ‘directed energy attack’ near the White House that sickened National Security Council official and another in Virginia

US government agencies have launched an investigation after reports of mysterious energy attacks near the White House and in Virginia.
The Pentagon is probing two incidents, including one that reportedly took place near the Ellipse, a 52-acre park south of the White House fence in Washington, DC in November.
A National Security Council official is believed to have developed a mystery illness after the attack, according to CNN.Â
An earlier attack took place in 2019 and was reported by a White House official who was walking her dog in a Virginia suburb near Washington.
These invisible strikes involve directing energy towards a particular target, and could involve methods such as lasers.Â
Energy attacks, which can also involve directing microwave energy towards people, are believed to have previously caused US officials in Cuba, China and Russia to become sick. Studies have suggested that microwave radiation is to blame. Â

The attacks have reportedly been linked to the ‘Havana Syndrome’, a mystery illness that affected US diplomats in Cuba in 2016.Â
At the time, staff at the US embassy in Havana complained about symptoms such as dizziness, hearing loss and ‘cognitive fog’.Â
The US subsequently accused Cuba of carrying out ‘sonic attacks’ amid a tense diplomatic stand-off between the two countries. Â
However, officials have not yet found conclusive evidence to suggest that this latest attacks on US soil is linked to those that occurred abroad.    Â
It comes after the Pentagon briefed top lawmakers last month on suspected energy attacks on US troops that were believed to have been carried out by Russia. Â
Lawmakers were briefed on injuries sustained by U.S. troops in Syria but it was not clear how many US forces were involved.Â

The Pentagon began investigating the attacks last year, amid concern the alleged attacks had parallels to the attacks in Havana.   Â
A task force has been set up to track reports of unusual symptoms impacting Defense Department personnel overseas. Â
Several government departments are investigating these mysterious attacks including the CIA, the State Department and the Defense Department. Â
CIA Director William Burns also recently pledged to examine evidence of these alleged attacks on US personnel overseas. Â
