Aldi has a well-established fan base for its Le Pave cheese – a creamy, soft French cheese that regularly sells out in stores.

But it looks like it’s now got some competition from another French fromage which customers have labelled the “most delicious cheese ever” and “the best $6 I have spent”.

Like Le Pave, Le Pico’s $5.99 goat’s cheese is also French and has attracted scores of fans since hitting Aldi shelves last month.

The limited edition product has been snapped up by customers and is now sold out at most stores.

Customers took to the Aldi Fans Australia Facebook group to rave about the “incredible” cheese for being “so smooth and creamy”.

“Take all my money Aldi! This cheese is the best $6 I have spent,” one person wrote.

“I’ve already bought it a few times and it’s amazing!” another said.

Others said it was a “smelly” cheese that you would probably only like if you were already a fan of goat’s cheese.

“I leave it out until it almost liquefies at room temperature then spread onto a crusty baguette with some quince paste,” one commenter said.

But some complained they had found the cheese hard to get as it was now out of stock at their Aldi – or it had been on the shelves but hadn’t scanned properly at the checkout.

“I only bought it once and now it’s no longer on the shelves,” one person lamented.

$3 Aldi chocolate beats Cadbury

Aldi’s cheese isn’t the only food that’s got a cult following – its Choceur chocolate recently beat out big name brands like Lindt and Cadbury.

Canstar announced that Choceur won first place for best chocolate in the Most Satisfied Customer Awards.

Choceur received five stars for overall satisfaction after scoring big in taste, value for money, packaging design as well as variety.

It costs just $2.99 a block, with new flavours including cookies and cream, dark peppermint and peanut and crunch flakes.

“We are always delighted when customers find an Aldi product they love and are proud that Australians with a sweet tooth have chosen Choceur to take out the top spot,” Aldi Australia chocolate buying director Adam Millauro said.

“Our chocolate is specially crafted in Europe and offers Aldi customers the best quality at the lowest price possible.

“This range also uses certified sustainably sourced cocoa, which supports fair working conditions and better opportunities for cocoa farmers, their families and our planet.”
