Want to explore Ibiza without getting caught up in the Spanish island’s party scene? More mellow vibes await at the new Six Senses Ibiza, set to open their doors this month on the island’s northern tip in the secluded Xarraca Bay region.

Not your average Ibiza hotel: Revel in the sun, sea and serenity at the island’s newest luxury resort

The easy R&R starts in the 116 rooms, suites and beachfront “caves” (from $1,590), which blend into the stunning landscape for a sense of serenity. Most offer views of the sea or surrounding forest, and a boho-chic esthetic runs throughout, with casual wood decor, a breezy neutral palette of white and tan, and plenty of lush potted plants.

The six beachfront caves may be integrated into the cliffs, but they’re far from rugged dens. Decorated in sandy colours, each stylish, open-concept space features an oversized bed, a soaker tub in the bedroom, and an outdoor terrace that leads to the sea.

The Farmers’ Market offers buffet-style stalls, with dishes like wood-fired pizza.

Guests will want to wander out of their cosy accommodations to sample the indulgent food at HaSalon at the Piazza, the first European outpost of world-famous Israeli chef Eyal Shani’s restaurant. The menu showcases seasonal, local ingredients whenever possible: Eggs come from resident chickens, and much of the produce is grown at the on-site farm, which also supplies the hotel’s other organic eateries. Stop by the casual Farmers’ Market for buffet-style stalls, offering dishes like wood-fired pizzas and pinchos (Spanish snacks), or Farmacy Bar for cold-pressed juices and alcohol-free cocktails.

Lounge by the main pool for unfettered views of the surrounding nature.

Six Senses has a reputation for creating luxury wellness retreats with sustainability in mind, and this Ibiza location is no different — in fact, it’s the first sustainable BREEAM-certified resort in the Balearic Islands. An on-site sustainability manager focuses on conservation efforts across the 20 acres of land, and solar panels generate 10 per cent of the retreat’s electricity. Drinking water is filtered and bottled (in glass), and the hotel aims to be plastic-free by next year.

While Six Senses Ibiza isn’t located in the island’s nightlife hub, there’s still plenty of fun to be had. At the Beach Caves (in the complex with the rooms of the same name), guests can expect a vibrant bar with shareable plates, live music and social events. The space is also home to Agora, a boutique with sustainable goods curated by fashion editors Daniela Agnelli and Tiffanie Darke.

Of course, no Six Senses trip is complete without a visit to the spa. Fitness and wellness options include yoga on a spacious outdoor deck, boxing on the rooftop and DIY-tincture workshops at the Alchemy Bar.

Treatments on offer include facials using luxe Biologique Recherche skin care, and cryotherapy (a service that involves exposing the body to sub-zero temperatures, said to reduce inflammation and aid athletic recovery). There’s even the Hangover Cure, a head-to-toe antidote that includes a fragrant citrus scrub and intensive massage — should you opt to partake in Ibiza’s legendary party scene after all.
