Spain has confirmed that it will let British holidaymakers return to the country for a summer of sun from June.
The news will come as a huge relief to sun-seeking Brits who are gasping for some time away after months of misery at home with British weather.
The confirmation comes after Spain and the UK reportedly agreed that Brits could travel there provided they have a digital health pass, reports The Sun.
Spanish tourism minister Fernando Valdes Verelst said: “June will be the start of the recovery of tourism in Spain.
“By then, we will have a digital vaccination certificate in place and we will be able to reopen our borders.â€

The minister said he wanted to ensure that the UK’s proposed digital pass is “mutually recognisedâ€.
Spain plans to trial the digital systems with its own citizens at Spanish airports next month in preparation for British holidaymakers in June.
As it currently stands sunseekers aren’t allowed to enter the European Union for non-essential travel but countries such as Greece, Spain and Portugal have been pressing for this to be changed in the wake of the UK’s vaccine success.

Countries with large proportions of their populations vaccinated could be exempt from the EU’s blanket entry ban and essentially given the green card this summer.
Mr Verelst also buoyantly said that he believed Spain could be recognised as a green status country by the UK’s traffic light system so that returning travellers would not have to quarantine.
He said: “Because of the progress in our vaccine rollout with 22% of our population having had their first dose already, we expect by June to be at the green light.

“We are having close conversations with UK authorities and we are exchanging information on Spain’s digital system and the trial happening at our airports in May.â€
At the World Travel and Tourism Council’s summit in Mexico, the Spanish tourism minister also added that the UK will take into consideration individual island’s Covid circumstances when deciding any possible travel bans that arise.
