Kate Middleton and Prince William are today celebrating the 10th anniversary of their spectacular wedding.

And although the event was watched by billions of people about the world, a lot of people forget Kate had a second gorgeous wedding dress.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s first dress was designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, and she later changed into a more slinky number for the evening celebrations.

The Palace said in 2011: “Miss Middleton chose British brand Alexander McQueen for the beauty of its craftsmanship and its respect for traditional workmanship and the technical construction of clothing.”

They added that the now-39-year-old “wished for her dress to combine tradition and modernity with the artistic vision that characterises Alexander McQueen’s work.”

The long-sleeve dress featured hand-cut English lace and French Chantilly lace, was made with ivory and white satin gazar and had an ivory satin bodice. It also had a two-metre train.

After the main ceremony, Kate went on to change into another Sarah Burton creation.

Far fewer people saw the stunning second gown, which she wore for the evening reception.

It was made from white satin with a diamante waistband and had a sweetheart neckline bodice.

Kate finished off the look with an angora bolero cardigan and had a whole new hairstyle for the evening.

Meanwhile, Kate’s “something blue” was a pretty silk ribbon sewn inside the first dress while the “old” and “borrowed” were touchingly combined in the tiara above her ivory silk tulle veil. It was Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother’s 1936 Cartier halo tiara – lent to her by the Queen, who had inherited it on her 18th birthday.

Kate’s diamond earrings, a gift from her parents, were based on their new family crest with stylised oak leaves and acorns. And she clutched a bouquet of myrtle, ivy, lily of the valley, hyacinth and sweet William.

After the wedding, the Queen hosted a champagne reception for 650 guests, which featured 10,000 canapés.

The couple also cut their cake, featuring eight tiers made from 17 different cakes, baked by Fiona Cairns. But in a break with tradition, they also cut a chocolate biscuit cake – William’s childhood favourite.

The reception ended at 3.30pm and William drove his wife back to Clarence House so they could change for the evening do, hosted by Charles.

They later danced the night away with friends, while singer Ellie Goulding performed and her cover of Elton John’s classic Your Song was the soundtrack to their first dance.

The couple are said to be planning a low-key celebration for their 10th wedding anniversary with their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis.
