Prince Harry should ‘stop blaming his woes on bad parenting and take responsibility’

Prince Harry should stop “blaming his woes” on “bad parenting” and start “taking responsibility” for his life, a royal biographer has said.

The Duke of Sussex opened up about his strained relationship with his father, Prince Charles, during an appearance on Dax Shepherd’s ‘the Armchair Expert’ podcast.

Speaking to Dax about his life as a senior Royal, Harry said his father had “suffered” due to his upbringing by the Queen and Philip.

He went on to claim the Prince of Wales “treated” him “the way he was treated” growing up and said he moved to the US to “break the cycle.”

Penny Junor, author of Prince Harry: Brother, Soldier, Son, said she was surprised to see the Duke of Sussex take another “wrecking ball” to the Royals.

She said: “Here he is taking another wrecking ball to his family, blaming his woes — the ‘pain and suffering’ — on generations of bad parenting,” she wrote.

“This is the sort of exploration usually reserved for the therapist’s couch, not for public consumption.”

The expert, who has been critical of Meghan in the past, wrote in the Times that Harry needs to “start taking responsibility” for his life and stop blaming “others for his situation.”

Ms Junor said Harry will discover through being a parent that Charles was likely doing the best he could.

She wrote: “What Harry will discover as his children grow up is that we parents all muddle along with our children, learning as we go and doing the best we can, as I have no doubt Prince Charles did.

“He is now 36 years old. It is time he stopped blaming others for his situation and started taking responsibility.”

Harry’s shot at Prince Charles isn’t the first time he has opened up about his life publicly.

Back in March, he told Oprah he was “disappointed” in Charles, whom he described as “trapped” in his role, and confirmed the pair weren’t speaking at the time.
