Eight children and three adults ‘crushed to death’ after building collapses in Mumbai

11 people have been reportedly crushed to death, including eight children, with several others injured after a building collapsed on another structure.

The two-storey structure fell after heavy rain fell throughout the city during the day in Malwani, mumbai.

A civic official has said eight children are believed to have been killed alongside three adults.

Search and rescue operations are currently underway as authorities scramble to look through the rubble.

The incident was reported at around 11.10pm local time from a slum in the Malvani area.

Police and firefighters are at the scene and carrying out operations to search for survivors.

Locals living nearby have also been evacuated from three-storey building, writes The Indian Express, as it was in a dilapidated condition.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Prabhat Rahangdale of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said: “Three persons are still suspected to be trapped and the search operation is on to find them.”
