Tragic scenes unfolded inside a supermarket which saw a grandmother and her grandson dead, cops believe.
It’s reported the incident killed three people and could be a murder-suicide shooting.
Police have confirmed a man, woman and toddler have died following the incident outside a Publix grocery store inside The Crossroads Shopping Centre.
Officers raced down to the scene at Royal Palm Beach, Florida, after the incident on Thursday at around 11.30am local time.
Investigators believe two of those who died were a grandmother and her grandchild.
It is not yet clear who the shooter was but a handgun was discovered at the crime scene.
Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Teri Barbera said they found three people dead near the produce area of the shop when responders arrived.
A deputy who was inside a neighbouring dry cleaners rushed to the scene when hearing the shooting take place, but it was over when he arrived, WPTV reports.
“It is possible they know each other,” Ms Barbera said, referring to those who died.

The force said in a statement: “Upon arrival, deputies located three individuals deceased from gunshot wounds.”
“The shooter is one of the deceased,” the statement added, without elaborating on the killer’s gender.
“This was not an active shooter situation.”
Melissa McKinlay, Palm Beach County Commissioner, confirmed the child was a toddler.
“This one is hard. You don’t like to hear about these things in your district. You don’t like to hear about them anywhere in the country,” she said.
Several police vehicles were in the car park after the shooting, with witnesses claiming to see 15 to 20 cars on site.
A Publix spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with those who are impacted by this tragedy.
“We are cooperating with the local law enforcement.
“Since this is an active police investigation, we cannot confirm any additional details.”
