‘Wary’ Kate Middleton ‘keen to end’ Meghan and Harry conversation – body language expert

Kate Middleton felt a mix of discomfort as well as “genuine delight” when she was asked about baby Lilibet, according to a body language expert.

Judi James told the Daily Star the Duchess of Cambridge appeared keen to end the conversation when she was asked about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s newborn daughter at the G7 summit in Cornwall on Friday.

Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born last week on June 4, and Kate admitted she and William had yet to meet the latest addition to the Royal Family.

“We haven’t met her yet but hopefully that will be soon,” she said.

Examining Kate’s expressions and behaviour, Judi said: “This question appears to come from left-field and even Kate’s first body language response, before the subject of her new niece has been raised, suggests some levels of alarm.

“Kate’s head rears up in what looks like surprise and her tongue-poke suggests she’s uncomfortable before the question has been asked.”

Judi said Kate appeared to have mixed feelings towards the question, with both happiness and caution indicated by her body language.

The expert said Kate also appeared to be keen to move the conversation onto another topic.

She added: “Her response when she hears she’s being asked about the new baby looks rather like an overkill signal.

“Her ‘Ah!’ of delight is in a high vocal tone to suggest genuine delight at the mention of baby Lilibet and she claps her hands together to signal authentic excitement.

“Her head tilts back though, suggesting wariness and she performs some head tilts and nods to suggest joy but also what looks like a desire to end the conversation.”

The Queen has reportedly seen her new great-granddaughter, named for her own childhood nickname, over FaceTime.

Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland said to be helping her and Prince Harry out with their new bundle of joy.

An insider told US Weekly: “They’ve had lots of lovely gifts sent from friends and family members including Doria, but the most special thing she’s provided is her time.

“She’s been helping out at the house and her hands-on support is a major bonus.”

The source continued: “Meghan’s so grateful to have her mom to lean on, and Harry just adores her.”
