Disney slammed as ‘woke’ after it bans ‘ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls’ greeting

Disney is being savaged for banning “ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls” from its theme park greetings to promote gender inclusivity.

The change to “friends, dreamers and everyone” was spotted by fans as its resorts started to reopen after Covid restrictions easing.

One raged on Twitter after hearing the new greeting: “Mickey Mouse woke!”.

Others ranted the alteration was “c**p”, “garbage” and “BS” as “Disneyland is for the boys and girls”.

A Disney fan seethed online: “There is no way in hell to cater for everyone who whines”, while another vented: “People and companies really need to stop changing everything that was originally made.”

Former theme park announcer Jack Wagner – dubbed “the voice of Disney” – estimated he had spoken the greeting “Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, dreamers of all ages” at least eight million times.

In one theme park it will now simply be: “Good evening, dreamers of all ages.”

Other resorts are using: “Good evening, friends”.

The updated announcements will be used in all of Disney’s 12 parks.

It has already been heard at a preview of the Orlando resort‘s iconic fireworks display.

But a spokesperson from Toyko Disneyland revealed it will be used before more than just the pyrotechnics events.

They claimed the park changed their greeting from “ladies and gentlemen” to “everyone” in March to make sure people of all sexual and gender identities felt “comfortable in the park”.

A Disney spokesperson added: “We don’t have an official statement, but the bottom line is the greeting has changed. It’s part of a broader effort around diversity and inclusion.”

Last week, Disney ditched the name Slave 1 from a new television show on its Disney+ streaming service based on the Star Wars franchise.

It has also banned the “wench auction” scene from its Pirates Of The Caribbean ride.

Rides including Splash Mountain and Jungle Cruises were revamped after they were slated by snowflakes for promoting racial and cultural stereotypes.

The cartoon giant has also slapped warnings on Disney+ shows, including The Muppets, Dumbo and Peter Pan for the same reasons.
