NXT Tag Team Champions MSK have revealed details of an inspirational meeting with one of their biggest heroes – WWE legend Edge.

Nash Carter and Wes Lee are reigning supreme as the top team in WWE’s NXT brand just now and have enjoyed a remarkable first few months with the company.

As one of the most popular pairings in all of the company, the duo has had to take plenty of plaudits in the stride since signing after winning the tag titles and the Dusty Rhodes Classic.

One of the biggest compliments they’ve had thrown their way since their debut at the start of 2021, however, came from one of wrestling’s most decorated performers.

Hall of Famer Edge is enjoying something of a third wind in WWE after two big comebacks from injury – the first having left him retired for a decade.

His own iconic career – particularly as a tag team performer himself alongside Christian – proved a major inspiration to Carter, 27, and Lee, 32.

In an exclusive Daily Star Online interview, the high-flying team discussed a recent visit by the veteran Hall of Famer to WWE’s Performance Center training facility, which houses the Capitol Wrestling Center at which NXT in filmed each week.

It turns out the Canadian is actually a fan of MSK, too – even giving them props for their unique Push Moonsault.

Recalling the meeting, Lee said: “The energy there was just electric.

“When he walked into a room everyone’s eyes were just drawn to him. The magnetism that man has is very, very special.

“It is like he was oozing a mission, he was driven to do something and we could just feel it – it was infectious to us.

“It was just dope having him around, I couldn’t really pick his brains because I was still trying to find the words to say!

“He did actually give us accolades for our Push Moonsault, he said he’d seen that and was impressed by it, so that was really cool.”

Lee went on to add that the 47-year-old went the extra mile with NXT stars throughout the day.

“While he was here, he was influencing and giving advice to people,” he added. “He wasn’t standoffish or shying away from people and seeming like he didn’t want to be there.

“He was engaged with every person and watching every match. That is very refreshing to see.

“For somebody who has been doing this for so long but still love it and want to give back so much, it’s motivating for us because those are the levels we want to reach.”

Edge is in the midst of a bitter rivalry with Universal Champion Roman Reigns on SmackDown.

It’s likely he’ll remain in the thick of things for some time yet, with Carter admitting it’s a more than deserved chance to shine after Edge’s emotional journey back to in-ring competition.

He said: “You can just tell that he had so much left and so much to give to the product.

“For him to be able to finally get everything out that has been pent up for all those years, it’s really cool to see.

“You don’t want to see anyone go out like that… nobody wants to see that. It’s just really cool to see him go again.”
