Princess Diana would be “very proud” of Prince Harry and Prince William for letting their wives speak out regularly, insists her childhood friend Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson.

The Princess of Wales and Duchess of York Fergie built up a strong friendship in the early years of their lives in the Royal Family.

Diana had been under intense scrutiny since her marriage to Prince Charles, so the arrival of the Fergie was seen by many to lift some of the pressure.

And the Duchess has now revealed that she thinks the Princess of Wales would be utterly smitten with every single one of her grandchildren – from both Prince William and Prince Harry‘s sides of the family – and Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle too.

“If she were sitting with me right now, I know she would say, ‘I am so proud of both of my boys and the wonderful wives they have chosen, because each has got her own voice.” Fergie told PEOPLE.

“She would be very proud of her sons and their wives and she would be just like me, obsessed with her grandchildren. Because that’s what she loved

“She adored my girls. She adored the boys. This would be her haven. Her heaven.”

Feuding royal brothers Harry and Wills put their disagreements to one side to deliver a joint statement on what would have been Lady Di’s 60th birthday last Thursday.

Their heartbreaking statement read: “Today, we remember her love, strength, and character – qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better.
