Six people have been arrested after altering the famous Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, California, it has been announced.
The Hollywood sign which is visible across Los Angeles due to its position in the Hollywood Hills is known to many across the globe and is protected by fences and guards.
However, six people were able to get close to the landmark and alter its appearance, causing quite the stir.
It’s believed that reality star Julia Rose who rose to fame on MTV’s Are You the One? was part of the group after she was seen being led away by police.
The sign which for a while read “Hollyboob” saw the group use large sheets of tarpaulin to cleverly place the makeshift B in front of the W and placing a piece of tarpaulin in the middle of the D.
Julia, 27, was joined by friend and YouTube star Jack Tenney, 26, who claim they were only at the sign for between 15 to 20 minutes before leaving and expecting to be arrested, reports The Los Angeles Times.
The blonde bombshell has since taken to social media to address the incident, sharing a video of the sign and being led away in handcuffs by a Los Angeles police officer.
Overhead, a police helicopter can be seen guiding cops towards the group of suspects who were released on Monday night.
Julia also shared a snap of herself posing in front of the “fixed” sign, with her eyes closed while pointing her middle fingers into the air as the Hollyboob sign stands in the background.
She later tweeted to her 620,800 followers: “Just got out of jail… wbu [sic]”?
Taking to social media, LAPD Captain Steve Lurie said: “A few hours ago, a group attempted to vandalize the Hollywood sign. Los Angeles landmarks are precious to those of us @LAPDHollywood and this was way uncool (not to mention the terrain is quite steep & dangerous).
“Hollywood patrol officers have arrested all six individuals.”
He later confirmed: “There’s no vandalism because the sign wasn’t damaged.”
The group were arrested for misdemeanour trespassing and were released after it emerged no damage had been made to the famous sign.
However, this wasn’t the group had attempted the prank, with Julia telling the Daily Mail that they had previously attempted to pull it off in October.
“We tried pulling it off twice in October, the first time we had two giant tarps that weighed 200 pounds each that we tried going uphill with so we nixed that idea and decided to go from the top down,” she said.
