A 25-year-old woman has been killed by a family dog which attacked her at home.

The victim was alone at home on Sunbeam Way in Kitts Green, Birmingham, when the tragedy took place around 2pm on Friday, February 5, Birmingham Live reports.

Paramedics responding to the incident were unable to save the woman from her devastating injuries.

West Midlands police have confirmed the Staffordshire terrier cross responsible, will be destroyed following its savage mauling.

Police also explained that the dog lived under the same roof of the victim, giving no reason for them to investigate the horror attack as a suspicious death.

The dog will be put down

The force said in a statement: “The death is being treated as a tragic incident, but with no suspicious circumstances.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner in due course.”

The death has been handed over to Birmingham’s coroner for a full investigation.

A police spokesman said: “We were called to Sunbeam Way, Shard End, just after 2pm on Friday by a relative.

“Sadly, a woman aged 25 was found dead at the scene after suffering serious injuries believed to have been caused by a family dog which also lived at the address.”
