A man was reunited with his beloved dog after fighting for his life for four months in a coma.

The owner, who has not been identified, was rushed to hospital after an explosion destroyed his home in Baltimore, the US, back in October.

He suffered life-threatening burns and was put into a medically induced coma.

En route to hospital, the owner pleaded with doctors to save his dog Barak.

The pooch was afterwards taken to The Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS).

It posted on Facebook: “Even though Barak’s return date to his dad was unknown, we made the pledge to care for him for as long as needed.

He was taken to a shelter and the pair later got to share this touching moment

“Barak wasn’t a candidate for foster, but at the shelter, he had a daily plan of long walks, playgroup romps, in-kennel enrichment, training sessions, and cuddle time thanks to our dedicated volunteers and staff.”

His owner was later released from hospital, but he then had to find a new home.

The BARCS statement continued: “In the final days of January, Barak’s dad secured dog-friendly housing and was able to pick him up from our shelter.

“Keeping this family together was worth the resources and worth the wait.”

Earlier this month, a beloved local dog who acted as a “tour guide” and protected locals from wild animals was tragically killed in a car accident.

Kopi-O, from the island of Pulau Ubin in Singapore, was laid to rest and given his own grave by devastated locals.

The two-and-a-half-year-old Singapore special died on February 3 in an alleged hit and run with a taxi, local news site Mothership reported.

Residents rushed him to a mainland vet, but their efforts were sadly in vain.

After his burial, Kopi-O’s brother Teh-O was pictured mourning his sibling and lying on top of his grave.
