Model Rebecca Landrith was found dead on the side of the road with multiple gunshot wounds.
The 2014 Miss Manhattan contest finalist was identified by police who analysed fingerprints linked to receipts found at the scene.
The former model was found dead in western Pennsylvania over the weekend by a PennDot worker in Union County, PhillyVoice reported.
The body was discovered on the side of an Interstate 80 ramp early on Sunday morning.
Landrith, originally from Virginia, is reported to have gunshot wounds to her head, neck, throat and chest as well as her hand, Union County Coroner Dominick Adamo said in a statement.
Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers said a man has been arrested in connection to her death.
PhillyVoice also reported Tracy Rollins Jr, whose name had been found on a note in Landrith’s pocket, was arrested in Connecticut and charged with criminal homicide and abuse of corpse.
Authorities determined Rollins is a truck driver.
Investigators said the former model had recently travelled through Indiana and Wisconsin, and had ties to other states, including Utah and South Dakota.
Rollins denied knowing Landrith, but according to cops, said he travelled with a woman named Leslie through Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania.
Police also state they have evidence Landrith made hotel reservations in December 2020 under the name of Leslie Meyers.
Rollins allegedly told police, when probed about travels with this woman, “I hate to start lying to you ’cause this is a murder investigation.”
But cops noted in their report that at that time investigators had not told Rollins he was being questioned in connected with an alleged murder, though reports of the former model’s death had been circulating in local news for several days.
Landrith, who had an iStudio page, worked as a model at locations around the US. She was a finalist for Miss Manhattan in 2014 and America’s It Girl Miss Lady Liberty in the same year.
She was also an accomplished violinist and worked in the field of law, according to her iStudio bio.
“Ms. Landrith has appeared in numerous product advertisements, video commercials, magazines, acted as a spokesmodel in videos for businesses and their websites, and multiple haute-couture Runway shows including Fashion Week,” the bio states.
Rollins Jr is currently awaiting extradition to Pennslyvania.
