Police hunt for hooded sex attacker after carrying out nine attacks in five hours

Police are on the hunt for a cyclist they wish to speak to in connection to nine reports of indecent assault, carried out just several hours apart.

The incidents took place in and around the Singleton Park area of Swansea, South Wales, between the hours of 8am and 1pm on Friday, February 12.

In an appeal to the public, South Wales Police have now shared a photograph of the person they want to speak to, a hooded cyclist who may be able to support their investigation.

Since the incidents, extra police officers have been deployed to patrol the area in order to reassure locals.

WalesOnline reports that a 24-year-old male was arrested on Friday, but has since been released with no further action being taken.

It was initially believed that four women had been assaulted by the attacker who was on a bike at the park.

Now, police have said that nine women have since been in touch and reported being indecently attacked by the unknown person.

The force are calling for members of the public who may have been in or near the park on Friday to come forward and speak to them.

Detective Inspector Peter Collins said: “We appreciate these incidents are concerning to local residents who are regularly using the park during lockdown.

“We are taking this very seriously and our investigation is ongoing.

“We also have extra patrols in and around the park.”

He added: “We are keen to hear from anyone who was in park between 8am and 1pm on Friday no matter how insignificant you feel your information maybe as it could help with our inquiry.”
