The Prime Minister has reportedly drawn up a four step plan that will see Brits step out of lockdown for good.
On Monday, Boris Johnson is set to outline the much-awaited roadmap towards freedom.
Mr Johnson’s plan is to ensure the whole country moves along together, and ditch the regional tiers we had previously been under.
He will announce key dates of when parts of the lockdown will be lifted on February 22.
On March 8, schools are set to reopen and kids can return to the classroom with some measures to be outlined.
The UK’s vaccination programme has been running successfully and ahead of schedule, with reports all adults will be vaccinated by July 31.
With its success, lockdown maybe lifted earlier than expected.
Outdoor sports is likely to return by the end of March, according to source – this includes football, rugby and hockey, reports The Sun.
If data allows, fans may also be back in grounds for the postponed Euro 2020 tournament which is due to take place in June.
However, despite schools going back on March 8, teachers unions have warned it could spike cases if there is no staggered return.
With this, the government could consider allowing primary school kids to return initially.
Care homes will also be given the opportunity to allow one visitor to visit a resident and hold hands.
Tory MP Graham Brady spoke of the heartbreak caused by isolating the vulnerable elderly.
He said it was “one of the most tragic aspects of the last yearâ€.
A Whitehall source: “There will be four steps, possibly five, each with dates and details about what businesses can reopen and which activities will be allowed.â€
A senior government source added: “There will be no more tiers. We’ll be taking these steps as one nation.
“No region will be left behind this time. We’re in this together and shall leave together.â€
