A stash of 80 “illegally imported” alligator heads set to be sold on eBay have been seized by police.

Officers believe the reptile heads were being flogged on the auction site to buyers around the world.

The seller is thought to have been making a “large profit” on them, Birmingham Live reports.

West Midlands Police raided a property in Perry Barr, Birmingham on Thursday after receiving a tip-off.

The force added it believes the suspect has been illegally importing the animal heads for “some time”, with boxes “arriving every few months”.

A 44-year-old has been voluntarily interviewed after the discovery.

“We received information that the heads were being imported from abroad illegally and sold on through eBay to buyers all around the world at a large profit to the seller.
