An individual has left the hospital where Prince Philip is being treated but was shielded from public view as they got into an ambulance.

It is not known who was transported away from King Edward VII Hospital in central London on Monday morning, but there was a police presence ensuring the road was clear.

Buckingham Palace has been approached for comment.

The Duke of Edinburgh has spent two weeks being treated for an infection – his longest-ever hospital stay. In June 2013, he spent 11 days in hospital after surgery on his abdomen.

Philip, who will turn 100 in June, was initially admitted on February 16 for a few days as a precautionary measure after feeling unwell.

Prince Charles visited him in hospital on Saturday, February 20.

He arrived at the back of the hospital at around 3.25pm and was seen leaving at about 4pm.

Prince Philip received his coronavirus vaccine last month, along with his wife the Queen, 94. The couple have been self-isolating in Windsor Castle during lockdown.

“I think that gets to all of us, and then you can only watch the clock so many times and the walls are only so interesting.

“We’ve had some brilliant and lovely messages from all sorts of people and we really appreciate that and so does he, I’ve been passing them on.

“It’s fantastic, thank you.”

While visiting a vaccination clinic in King’s Lynn last week, Prince William also provided an update on his grandfather’s condition.

“He’s OK, they’re keeping an eye on him,” he told media at the centre.

A royal source said the public could probably expect an update on Philip’s condition sometime this week.
